A girls weekend in Hanoi!

Girls weekend in Hanoi - Deirdre October 2008 078

Since we moved to Bangkok, I have been so much looking forward to see my friend Deirdre. We know each other from the time Miguel and I lived in Singapore. Last weekend, I spent four days with her while being on a familarisation trip for VietnamInStyle. A sister company of SriLankaInStyle.

I flew in from Bangkok and she came from Singapore. We met at the airport and took a taxi to a little hotel in the centre of Hanoi. Deirdre had been Hanoi before so that made it easier for us to get around. We both have a love for interior design, photography and cute little cafes where we can chat for hours. Hanoi has such a strong French influence that it was easy to find cozy little eateries but also beautiful boutiques. We made many walks through the streets, chatted with the local people, had lunch in gorgeous cafes, visited the famous art district and took a million pictures! In the meantime, catching up on our lifes, kids, husbands and the future!

On my last day, I spent the night at The Metropolitan. A colonial hotel in the centre of town. I had a meeting there with the general manager who explained me it’s history and took me around on a site inspection tour. Deirdre joined me later for dinner before we had to say goodbye. Already planning for our next get together which I hope will be in Cape Town!! X
