Visiting an orphanage in Phnom Penh

We arrived late afternoon at the airport in Phnom Penh and got ourselves a Tuk Tuk to the hotel. The scenery on the roads remembered us of Sri Lanka and Thailand. Tuk Tuk’s, motor bikes, bikes and busses finding their way through heavy traffic. It was peak hour!

This morning after a lazy breakfast, we decided to explore the city. It was Sunday and there was far less traffic than yesterday. We had planned to visit an orphanage so we got ourselves a beautiful red rickshaw and went off!

The kids looked cute in their Si!Si! outfits and I couldn’t help taking pictures of them. When we arrived at the orphanage, we were welcomed by a few teenagers. Most of the kids were not there as they had gone out for the day but we had a chance to see the classrooms, dormitories, kitchen and play grounds. We made a small donation and explained Sam and Ruby about why these children are here. Ruby was happy to be with us, he said. And of course, what do they know! A five and two year old!!

We ended up later in the day at the park where the kids ( and Miguel!) had a blast playing football till the sun was setting…IMG_8077IMG_8054IMG_8081IMG_8091IMG_8087IMG_8103IMG_8134IMG_8151IMG_8176
