Road tripping! From Phnom Penh to Siem Reap…

village visit

Today we left Phnom Penh after we had spent another two days in this amazing city full of tragic but also wander and hope. The kids were too small to understand the deeper significance of it’s history but I hope one day we can come back and explain it to them…

Instead of taking a plane, we decided that we wanted to go by road to Siem Reap. It was a journey of about 5 hours so we tried to stop on the way. When leaving the town we found ourselves still in heavy traffic and the kids were amazed of the families sharing one bike!

After approximately, a hour the road became more rural and so the landscape with its beautiful stilt houses, people working on the rice fields, kids playing freely on the roads and women carrying all sorts of produce from the markets.

We stopped in a tiny village to buy some fruits and we were welcomed to sit down and join the tribe. The people were so friendly and warm so we spent a small hour hanging out and enjoying our food before setting off again for the rest of our journey to Siem Reap…
