Florence!

Our beloved city Florence! After 20 years we have come back to this beautiful city. Twenty years ago we met on the Piazza Signoria and here we are today! Nothing has changed. Us yes! Now a family of five. The kids enjoying time with their grandparents and we on a romantic escape for a long weekend. Visiting this town so special to us which brings back funny memories of the day we met.

We strolled around the narrow streets, visiting the Cathedral, book stores and little art galleries. Had long long lunches with lot’s of wine. The food is just to die for! And then a siesta which is almost sacred when we are together without the kids 🙂

On our first night we had cocktails on the roof terrace of our hotel with a 360 degrees view over the city. We decided to go for a bike ride the next day. Into the Tuscan country side. We managed to get the bikes and off we went. The bikes were without any gears so it was hard work going up the hills but we had the most romantic and beautiful afternoon together!!!! A lunch in a tiny little restaurant in one of the little villages surrounding Florence. On our way back we crossed the bridge and parked our bikes at a little piazza where two glasses of red wine were waiting for us. Perfect!!!

We made use of the bikes the next day too and while Miguel preferred to stay at the hotel for some reading, I explored the other side of town with new upcoming interior designer stores and fashion boutiques. In the evening, we enjoyed an opera which was performed in a little church. Only for a handful of people which made it feel just for us! I wished we could have stayed for longer. Next time we decided we would bring the kids and show them the place where we met at Piazza Signoria…

Ohh  Florence! X
