“Uncle” Erik came to see us! Erik was on a business trip to India and came to spent a long weekend with us. For the first time in Sri Lanka! Erik is an old friend from University when we used to live in Amsterdam. He still lives there with his family and through the years we have kept good contact despite the distance.
So happy he is here with us and he can enjoy a few days with us down south. Miguel got an invitation for us to stay at Claughton house. Just to check it out and give some feedback about the staff. It is a beautiful house just a hour drive from Galle where we made a stop for a walk through the Fort and have an ice cream.
The next morning we had a great swim at the beach and a delicious breakfast. The kids loved the outdoor space and garden where they could play football, swim and play “hide and seek”. I was happy to chat for hours with Erik and to spend some real quality time. We talked about our student years, work, marriage, the kids and of course the future. He always made me laugh so much. Miss his Dutch humour already!!
