This little video of Guido biking with my dad is very precious to me. He taught him during the summer holiday how to ride his bike. In fact he taught Sam and Ruby too. The small little red bike was mine. I got it for my fourth birthday and my sister and our three boys all have biked on it.
Seeing him here with my dad make my eyes fill with tears but also smile as this is what he enjoyed most. Getting them prepared. Passing on his knowledge and experience. Giving them the tools, the wisdom and courage to face life with all its ups and downs he sadly had to experience himself. Not knowing that only two weeks from this beautiful day, he ended up in hospital..
I thank you papa for all your support, your unconditional love and optimism. You were a fighter and taught me never to give up. I still see you standing at the side of the swimming pool encouraging me to go that extra mile. Your slogan was: ” Jansen never give up!”. Always that big dump up..
You never did… And I am passing it on to our three boys. Feeling proud of the education I received and to have had you as my dad. You will always be. I miss you papa!!
