A weekend in Dubai celebrating my birthday! What an idea! AND it worked out! My sister had to go for a few days of work to Dubai and my mum went along with her. As it is only 4,5 hours from Colombo I decided to join them. I still had enough points that I could redeem and so off I went! At the airport, both were waiting for me and I couldn’t be more happy to see them in such different circumstances. Almost a year after my dad passed away….
Although my sister was away most of the time for work, I spent a few precious days with my mum. We loved the old part of Dubai and spent there a full day. Strolling the streets, the markets, the art galleries, had a lovely lunch and visited the harbour. The next day, we were off to the beach which was not that far from our hotel. It was lovely weather and it did my mum well to be in the sunshine. Mind you that in Holland it is winter!
On the last day, we did a bit of shopping together and my sister joined us later for dinner in front of the Tallest Building in the World. At night the building is all lit up with an amazing spectacle of lights and music in front of a huge fountain. It was a real show and a very festive way of celebrating my birthday night. I miss you mum and Tam! Thank you so much! X
