We arrived late in the afternoon in Winterberg, Germany. A small town about 4,5 hours drive from where my mum lives in Holland. The kids were eager to see snow but the houses and trees looked somewhat sad without that touch of white. As a kid I did this trip almost every year with Christmas and I remember how the mountains and villages were covered under a thick layer of snow. It was just magic..We decided to go to bed early in the hope that the next morning we would find ourselves amid ski slopes full of snow…
Unfortunately, it hadn’t snowed but according to the people of the village there was enough snow on the slopes. So off we went and to our surprise we saw the lifts open! Kids were very excited and Sam was determined to go snowboarding. He said; ” Mum, skiing is for older people, I am going for snowboarding”. By the first curve he was on the floor with his face full of snow and a hour later he had switched his snowboard for skis 😉 For Guido it was his first time on skis but he was quick to learn. In the afternoon, he came down all by himself!
