After a road trip of about 4 hours from Galicia ( North of Spain), we arrived at this beautiful old house just outside of Porto. It belongs to a very sweet Portuguese family who hosted us for a few days. It dates back to the 17th century with a beautiful garden and a little plunge pool. The kids loved picking the grapes from the pergola and playing football in the garden. We had a great barbecue on our first night with chorizo, “queso cabreales” from Spain, a delicious marinated piece of meat which Miguel prepared and of course a bottle of wine!
In the morning we had breakfast outside, enjoying the cooler temperature and making plans for the day. Where shall we go? What shall we do? A visit to Porto. Visiting the fishermen villages and heading to the beach? Nobody in a hurry. We are on holiday! Let’s have another cup of tea and a slice of that juicy watermelon!
