This morning we decided to take the train to discover the city of Porto. So many friends have told us about this beautiful city and we surely were not disappointed! We loved it!! Upon arrival at the central train station we were impressed by the large azulejo “paintings” representing historical events in Portuguese history. It is said that the station counts for almost 20.000 “azulejos”, the architecture which is so typical of Porto.
We walked around the city for hours, wandering around the little narrow streets, visiting the Porto Cathedral, having afternoon tea at the old art deco Majestic Cafe and indulging ourselves at the end of the day with a delicious dinner at the river side enjoying a glass of Porto ( a couple of course! ) with a view of the Douro and it’s many bridges.
