Each summer we return to the beautiful town of Ribadeo in the north of Spain and we meet up with our friends. Over the years the kids have formed their “Bandillo de Ribadeo” and as parents we all hang out too. It is such a fun time. Two solid weeks of surf, football, beach, excursions in the mountains, great food and so much laughter!
From newborn to grandparents, aunties, uncles and cousins… everyone participates and makes it a time to remember and looking forward to. This year, Miguel and I explored the countryside around the villages too and it is just so stunning! ( see other post). So off grid and no foreigners to be seen. Perhaps a “giri” walking the Camino de Santiago but ever since I came to Ribadeo 10 years ago, I always have been the only nordic “Rubia” around 🙂
The beaches are rough with rock cliffs and views over the hilly virgin country side. There are the fiestas of the pueblo, the local farmer markets with it’s cheeses, fresh vegetables, wine and delicious pastries. Such a treat for the boys who can’t indulge in these delights back in Sri Lanka and it is such a happy feeling to see them enjoy so much 🙂
If this could only keep on going forever….
