Bosa Nova is our thing!

Being in Brasil and not loving Bosa Nova is impossible for us. Ever since we got the guitar, Miguel has been rediscovering old songs. And tonight we have listened to so many. They are part of our play list. I think Djavan and Caetano Veloso are my favourites and Astrud Gilberto’s voice is to die for!

In the nineties, we had a cassette of Carlos Jobim in our old car in Madrid. It got stuck so we listened to it day in and day out. And now more than 20 years later…today….we are here in Rio! We have watched the crowds and goshh…how the Carioca’s know how to have fun!

The video below is a little bit of samba when we came back from the beach at night…Look at the boys faces! 🙂

Bosa Nova is full of rhythm, it is sensual and great to dance on. Something I love! The cords are very sophisticated but the lyrics quite simple at the same time..

Reading about Rio in the 60-ies, I can just imagine how a group of young people who loved to play music and gather at the beach, created this beautiful tropical beat with a twist of samba. Just perfect to me!
