We left home in the afternoon. Today was extremely hot! So after a lunch and a siesta we walked from Copacabana beach to Ipanema. At times, I felt as if I was on a movie set. People rollerblading, jogging, skateboarding. What an energy and vibration!
The beaches full of people, music everywhere and the smell of food. It took us about 30 minutes walking. The beach was packed with people which was a bit of a downer…
I guess when you come from a place like Sri Lanka where you still – at times- have a chunk of beach for yourself, is here hard to imagine… And this city is huge! No comparison to Galle! But it is really the people and the setting which makes it is so special. Definitely, one of my favourite cities in the world!
The sunset was spectacular! It felt as we were part of a painting. The boys had quickly found their coconuts and of course Miguel and I couldn’t resist the caipirinha’s they sell on the beach. We tried them all! Lime was definitely our favourite! 🙂
I must confess that we left our bamboo straws at home so we sipped from the plastic ones 😦 ! I didn’t feel great about that and Guido rightly pointed it out to me and Miguel. Felt really proud of him and we will make sure we put them in our beach bag once we are at home. 🙂
So when the boys were asleep I put them in Guido’s bag. Tomorrow we are off to Uruguay! We leave around mid day. Can’t wait to discover that country. Have heard so much about it.. X
