A special moment in Jose Ignacio…

Endless views and space.  The coast wild with dunes that remind me of Holland and the beaches that look like this! When I saw the boys sitting there, I had to click! It is probably one of my favourite pictures of the trip so far!

The boys played football at the beach for hours. The temperature was perfect! Sam had even a swim in the cold Atlantic water, Miguel had a siesta which he loves and we had a delicious picnic with fruits, bread from the local grocery store, nuts, dulce de leche which the kids adore by now (and can’t get enough of!) fresh yoghurt and cheese!!! The locals here know how to eat well. By that I mean healthy. Uruguay has surprised us so much! Especially the area around here, people are very conscious of their environment. Organic food stalls and little cafe’s are seen everywhere. It that sense, Uruguay is doing economically but also on a social and environmental level much better than it’s big neighbours Brasil and Argentina…

In the afternoon, we were waiting for our friend Laura. She is from Uruguay and lives in Colombo now. We met 20 years ago in London when Miguel studied there. Once she arrived we didn’t stopped talking. It felt like yesterday! It was so nice for the boys to meet her as well. So we had an ice cream, a walk around the little village and we ended up sitting at the rocks watching the sun go down. It was a very beautiful and memorable day! X
