Heaven!

Today is Christmas day and we are in the most beautiful place! I found the house on Airbnb and I still remembered that I was surprised it wasn’t taken being it Christmas! So happy I did! We are staying in the garden cottage just down from the main house. The estate is about 5 acres of land. It has the main house, a swimming pool, a rugby and football pitch for the boys to use and a view over the River Plata. At night, we can see the lights of Buenos Aires and this morning the boys were calling me out loud while I was doing the washing….”Look mama…horses!” They were galloping just in front of the house. Ten beautiful horses who -we now know- are doing this every day. As part of their daily routine. When the sun is setting they come back and hang out. Such a magical sight!

Tonight we are having a “parilla” for Christmas Eve dinner. Little have we noticed that it is Christmas. There is not much decoration and also in Montevideo it was quiet. We made a stop there on our way to Colonia del Sacramento. Had a delicious lunch. We couldn’t spent a lot of time as we needed to be in Colonia before 6pm. When we got into town, we stopped for a big shopping in one of the supermarkets and we haven’t been out since. Just enjoying this incredible place!

We have spent the whole of yesterday here at home. Enjoying the cozy cottage. Boys were thrilled to play football again, we needed to catch up on a bit of homework too and Miguel also had to be in touch with Colombo. It is peak season back home so to have a base like this allows us to catch up. Even with the washing which was a must! 😉 !!
