La Boca!

Colourful, bright and touristic. La Boca is a cute little neighbourhood with a rich history but the markets, bars and cafe’s where not really our thing. So we made a short stroll through the back streets. Took a few nice pictures but then headed to the football museum and stadium of La Boca for a tour.

Inside the museum there was so much to do and learn about the history of the club but also about football in general. There were video’s and movies to see, interactive games and we took a look inside the stadium. It was all very professionally run. Once we were at the end, we made it quick back to our more favourite part of town, El Telmo!

This afternoon, there was a concert of Buena Vista Social Club and we were keen to go! We arrived just in time and to our surprise when we entered the little room it was all dark. Nobody on stage and the lights were off. We got a few dark sunglasses on our nose and a minute later we heard the voice of one of the band members. And then we realised that we were invited to a “blind live audio concert”. The sound was beautiful and once Ruben Gonzalez started to play on the piano I was with my thoughts in Cuba….

At the same time, I wondered how the boys would go about this experience. Especially Guido but he did well and eventually he fall asleep with his glasses still on his nose. I couldn’t resist and teased Miguel if he wanted to stand up and dance. Although it was dark, there was still a bit of light coming inside from the back. And there we were, dancing quietly in the back of the room. At that point, I think Ruben stood up and made himself to the bathroom…;)! But heh, I would have done the same being 15! Sam was following him quickly afterwards but 5 minutes later the concert was already over.

We had a laugh and the boys were all…” But papa, you said this was a concert!??”. How little we knew! But we had a wonderful time and decided to go for another “dulce de leche” ice cream, a stroll around the market and head home. Tonight would be the last day of the year and we had some delicious food ready in the fridge for us to cook up a festive dinner! Yay! X
