Toto has arrived and that means; ” VAMANOS!!!!”. And so we set off for a hike to refugio Berghof. It took us a little while before we had found the path that would lead us to ” el refugio”, but once we were on it there was no return!
It was already quite hot and so with our hats on and plenty of water we departed and left the car at the entrance of the park. We walked for about a hour till we got to a little path which would lead us to el refugio Berghof. The surroundings were stunning with beautiful views over the lakes and mountains in the horizon…
Once we got to the small mountain hut, we were dying for something cool to drink and of course the boys were hungry. Are they ever not?!!! So we ordered three big plates of pasta and some ice cold beer for us. Toto was in his salsa! He loved the place. Inside there were pictures of winter, ski’s hanging on the wall, a fire place now totally empty but I could imagine it full of people…Books were laying scattered around the coffee table and a picture of the owner ” Mr. Berghof” was hanging at the entrance.. Such a nostalgic place and I could have stayed the whole afternoon but the boys were keen to go back. They had seen an adventure site on their way up and we had promised them to make a visit..so we continued our excursion down while my mind was still full of images….X
