Pichilemu!

We arrived in Pichilemu! What a cute little town! We are staying with a local family, Emilio and Valentina with their little daughter in a little cabana in the back of their house. It is perfect as Emilio is a surf coach and Val makes us the most delicious smoothy bowls for breakfast in the morning.

The sandy dusty road in front of the house leads to a stunning wild beach. On the corner we have a little grocery store where we can buy fresh vegetables and fruits and some other basic groceries.Outside our cabana we have a perfect table for outdoors dinners and lunches…

It gets hot during the day but at night the temperature drops so we slept under a duvet last night which was nice. Inside our little cabana we have an antique stove where we make a fire at night to keep the cabana nice and warm. We don’t have much space and I realize that to keep it all running smooth, we need to be a bit more organized than normal. It reminds me of my childhood days when our family went camping. My parents loved the outdoors so for 5 weeks long, we were all involved in setting up our tent, filling up the water tanks, and making sure that we kept our clothes and gear clean for as long as possible.

So far so good. The boys have worked out that this is not Sri Lanka and that they need wet suits if they want to go out there and hit the amazing waves. Another thing to take care off! 😉  The water is cold, very cold. So once we had all the gear ready, they went off with Emilio for a trial.

Yesterday, when we arrived from San Fernando where we changed buses, we had no idea what to expect. I had read about Punta de Lobo as an amazing surf break but when we actually saw the waves, we were blown away and I knew the boys would struggle. But heh.. they were very keen to give it a try and I was proud to see them go this morning. My fingers crossed though that they would return safe..!
