And off they are to Madrid. For the very first time Sam and Ruben will be flying by themselves. No red jackets or assistance. I checked twice with the airline but they confirmed that passengers from 12 years old onwards can go independently. So for the boys it was a no brainer. They insisted…”Mama, please!”. We know. Don’t worry about us.
So it happened. Today I left them at the airport. They checked in and off they were. To Madrid where they will be staying with their grandparents until Miguel arrives next week from Sri Lanka.
Guido is on the same flight and he did got assistance. For him it was the first time he did it alone so in the beginning he was a bit nervous. But once we were at the airport and he also realised that he would see Sam and Ruben on the same flight he was pretty cool. He didn’t really mind being accompanied by two pretty hostesses 😉 and so he waved confidently “bye mama”…
Here I am…. Alone at home…. No “mama’s” for a while. On my way in the car I felt the emptiness. The silence at home is awkward. But I have enough stuff to work on and for the very first time in years I can enjoy some extra time in my country. No rush seeing friends and family. A bit of “me time” and that is a real luxury!
