We are three weeks in lockdown and no idea how long we will continue this way. The early days were pure bliss. It felt like being on holiday at home with Miguel around day in day out. Time to chat, to play music, paint, to bake and indulge in nice lunches. Watching movies together and the boys playing football at the end of the afternoon…
And although at times, we had moments of stress with “home schooling” and keeping to a schedule, overall we so much have enjoyed each other’s company. I think even DJ has noticed the big change from being alone at home most of the day to suddenly have the whole family around him day in day out!
I sometimes wonder what the world is going to look like after we have gone through this pandemic. It will certainly leave a deep scar in people’s lives. Every day in the news you hear about more people losing their jobs, companies going bankrupt but worse of all so many people already have lost their lives. In Spain each day more than 850 people die of the virus. We are of course concerned about the well being of the family as Madrid seems to be the epicenter. The country is in total lockdown. In Holland the government takes a different approach. It tries to keep the economy going by giving the people the freedom to still go out but keeping a distance of 1,5 meters of each other. Social distancing is the new term and you can get a fine of 390 Euros if you don’t comply..
But who knows what is the right approach? It is all an experiment and for now we can only stay at home and try to save lives. Doctors, nurses, cleaners are all at the front line trying to save lives and at the same time also putting their own life at risk. I have deep respect for all of them. THANK YOU SO MUCH…
In Sri Lanka we have around 68 cases and 3 people died. So far Colombo and Jaffna are the critical zones. The curfew might be lifted some time this week for one day. That would be so wonderful. Just the freedom to go for a bike ride or a swim in the ocean…
