How lucky are we to have spent Christmas this year with our best friends in the cool weather up in Haldemulla! When we drove up, I still remember how the mist came down on the villages and tea estates and the tiny little lights twinkling between the trees. The feeling reminded me of my childhood years and I was getting a bit nostalgic while listening to James Taylor’s Christmas carols in the car…
It was dark when we arrived and when we stepped into the house, you could smell the Christmas tree and the roast chicken which was served on the table. The fire was lit and we all cozied up for a drink. Kids were excited to see each other again and Flynn and Guido immediately were off to play a game of chess 🙂
The stockings were hanging and presents were beautifully wrapped under the Christmas tree, ready to be unwrapped at breakfast the next morning. Excitement and lot’s of laughter followed. We made walks around the estate, made apple pie, had lots of gin tonics and red wine and most of all enjoyed each other company. Knowing how lucky we were. Away from the Covid restrictions, the lockdown, the online schooling…all was forgotten for a few precious days…
