And here we are! Strolling the streets of A’dam on our way to “Het Waterloop plein”.

Today the big day! Ruben op kamers! What a memorable day…A day I will never forget. A happy moment and somewhat sad. Here you are …waving me goodbye from your window on the first floor of your student residence. It makes me happy to see that big smile but I feel the tears dripping downContinue reading “Ruben op kamers!”
Off to Madrid!
And off they are to Madrid. For the very first time Sam and Ruben will be flying by themselves. No red jackets or assistance. I checked twice with the airline but they confirmed that passengers from 12 years old onwards can go independently. So for the boys it was a no brainer. They insisted…”Mama, please!”.Continue reading “Off to Madrid!”
Time for football!
Just picked Guido up from football camp. When we were in Haarlem at Imre’s place, Guido spent a few days in Hilversum at a training site with about 12 other kids of his age. I remember how nervous he was the first day but now after 4 days he is so much more confident. EvenContinue reading “Time for football!”
Haarlem
We spent three days in Haarlem with Imre and her boys. Every year we are paying her a visit. It is fun for Sam and Ruben as her sons are from the same age. Guido is a little too young yet to participate in the stuff that teenagers love doing so he is on aContinue reading “Haarlem”
The Laage Vuursche…
The Laage Vuursche is just around the corner from my mum’s house. It is about a 15 minute bike ride and every year we are biking through the forests a couple of times. Such beautiful scenery and hundreds of walking paths. The fresh air and exercise make you hungry and I always take the boysContinue reading “The Laage Vuursche…”
Back in Holland!
We are back in Holland and it feels wonderful! I was so looking forward to see our friends and family. The boys are very happy too. They love their bike and the sense of freedom it gives them. Every day they go on their bikes to the football pitch next door or we are makingContinue reading “Back in Holland!”
Biking on the “Hei”..
Today we made a beautiful bike ride on ” The Hei”. It has become a tradition to take them on a ride from HR to Hilversum for a picknick and an ice cream on our way home. Boys being boys, they couldn’t stop “funnying” around. It is such a great playfield for them!
Amsterdam!
On our way back from Haarlem, we stopped for lunch in Amsterdam. The boys know the city by now but I never had shown them my faculty of Law where I studied for 6 years. So we headed to the centre of town for lunch at Cafe van Daelen, one of my favourite places andContinue reading “Amsterdam!”
Haarlem bound!
Beach days in Haarlem! We are back in Haarlem. Spending a few days with my girfriend Imre and her boys. We always love to come back to this city. It is like “mini Amsterdam”! This year, we headed straight to the beach though. With temperatures around 30 degrees, it was the best thing to do.Continue reading “Haarlem bound!”
