What an incredible day! Our tribe was out early morning on safari and we spotted so much wildlife. The landscape so different from Sri Lanka and the kids were blown away seeing zebra’s, giraffe’s and even a pack of lions laying down the riverside! Apart from the wilderness, the kids are playing non stop. TheyContinue reading “On safari!”

On the road…
We left Nairobi (Tigoni) early morning and went up north to Samburu National Reserve. We took about 6 hours and the road led us through many many townships. Everywhere people on the streets, colourful shacks and stalls of fruits, vegetables and any sort of goods you can think of. Like Sri Lanka, you see animalsContinue reading “On the road…”
A photoshoot of our tribe
Our friend Olivia was so kind to come along on our break to Mount Lavinia this afternoon. We do this a lot with the kids. Taking the train from Slave Island train station around the corner of our house in Colombo and walking down the railway track to a secluded beach near Mount Lavinia Hotel.
New Year in Ulpotha and wedding bliss!
Nothing more fun and enriching than spending the last days of 2016 in the remote village of Ulpotha. We had a wonderful time with best friends and we made lovely new ones. Soaking up the peaceful surroundings and embracing nature in its full glory it felt as if we were floating after a 23hrs longContinue reading “New Year in Ulpotha and wedding bliss!”
Christmas at “home”…
For the first time in more than 10 years we are in Holland, celebrating Christmas with the family. Yesterday, on Christmas eve, we spent the early evening ice skating in the beautiful little town Laren only 15 minutes drive from where my mother lives. I had flashbacks of the days I was a kid, skatingContinue reading “Christmas at “home”…”

“Mum, is it going to snow?”
We arrived late in the afternoon in Winterberg, Germany. A small town about 4,5 hours drive from where my mum lives in Holland. The kids were eager to see snow but the houses and trees looked somewhat sad without that touch of white. As a kid I did this trip almost every year with ChristmasContinue reading ““Mum, is it going to snow?””
Birthday Bliss in Dubai!
A weekend in Dubai celebrating my birthday! What an idea! AND it worked out! My sister had to go for a few days of work to Dubai and my mum went along with her. As it is only 4,5 hours from Colombo I decided to join them. I still had enough points that I couldContinue reading “Birthday Bliss in Dubai!”
At Anantara Peace Heaven!
And heaven it is! When we got to Anantara, our room was just in front of the ocean and I immediately spotted the swing which was just there waiting to be used 🙂 I love swings!! Ever since I was a little girl I loved to swing and Guido is the same. He immediately rushedContinue reading “At Anantara Peace Heaven!”
Brunch at Mount Lavinia…
Miguel is in Europe and I felt like taking the boys out for a brunch at Mount Lavinia this morning. So we took the train from Slave Island about 5 minutes from our home and we spent the rest of the day at the beach and the pool of Mount Lavinia Hotel. The train rideContinue reading “Brunch at Mount Lavinia…”
